The talk will deal with the problem of inferring causal relationship from observational data, presenting a review of the following topics: the problem of induction, role of probability in induction, causal search through graphical models and independent component analysis.

 

Short Bio: Alessio Moneta is associate professor of Economics at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa. His main areas of scientific interest include methodology of empirical economics, with particular emphasis on the problem of causal inference, empirical demand analysis and macro-econometrics.
