Abstract

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent a goal for many governments in order to enable future generations to have the same opportunities as present ones. In a global, digital context where there is not always the availability of the raw materials needed to achieve the ecological transition; the analysis of sustainability goals is quite complex. Balancing the three dimensions (environmental, economic and social) requires the use of quantitative approaches to provide decision makers with useful tools to optimize resources. This seminar proposes the research activities that from the concepts of sustainability proposes to assess degrees of performance of European countries and Italy toward achieving the 17 SDGs. Focusing on SDG 7 (Clean Energy and Affordable) the focus is on photovoltaic systems and their contribution in the residential sector. The sustainable development framework then considers the implementation of such systems within renewable energy communities by indicating the enabling factors for their success. Future research directions and possible collaborative synergies will be combined with some managerial and policy implications geared toward a pragmatic model of sustainability, i.e., protecting all categories of stakeholders.
