Simone Agostinelli received his Ph.D. in Engineering in Computer Science from Sapienza Università di Roma in 2022. He is currently a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTT) in Engineering in Computer Science at the Department of Engineering and Sciences at Universitas Mercatorum of Rome. Previously, he was a fixed-term Researcher (RTD-A) from 2023 to 2025 and a Research Fellow from 2022 to 2023 at the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering “Antonio Ruberti” at Sapienza University of Rome. His research spans the wide spectrum of Business Process Management (BPM) with a particular focus on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of Robotic Process Automation (RPA). He is single author of a Springer monograph and co-authored 36 papers, e.g., in journals like Computers in Industry, Information Systems, and Industrial Information and Integration, and premier conferences like BPM and CAISE. His PhD dissertation won the 2023 Best BPM Dissertation Award for pivotal contribution to the RPA field. He served as both the PC Chair of the RPA Forum and the Proceedings Chair for the BPM'24 conference. He is currently the Proceedings Chair for the BPM'25 conference and the Tools and Demo Chair for the EDOC'25 conference.
