Christian Napoli
Christian Napoli is Associate Professor with the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering "Antonio Ruberti", Sapienza University of Rome, since 2019, as well as Scientific Director and co-founder (2015) of the International School of Advanced and Applied Computing (ISAAC), and associate researcher to the Institute of Systems Analysis and Informatics (IASI) of the National Research Council (CNR) since 2022.
He received the B.Sc. degree in Physics from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Catania, in 2010, where he also got the M.Sc. degree in Astrophysics in 2012 and the Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2016 at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, he obtained the National Scientific Abilitation as associate professor in Computer Engineering (2017) and computer science (2019).
Christian Napoli has been Research Associate with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania, from 2018 to 2019, while, previously, Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor with the same department from 2015 to 2018. He has been a Student Research Fellow with the Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Informatics Engineering, University of Catania, from 2009 to 2016, a collaborator of the Astrophysical Observatory of Catania and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics, since 2010.
He has been several time Invited Professor at the Silesian University of Technology, Visiting Academic at the New York University, and responsible of more than 25 institutional topics from 2011 until now for Undegraduate, Graduate and PhD students in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Electronics Engineering. His teaching activity focused on Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Computing Systems, Computer Architectures, Distributed Systems, and High Performance Computing.
He is involved in several international research projects, serves as reviewer and member of the board program committee for major international journals and international conferences.
His current research interests include neural networks, artificial intelligence, computational models, and high performance computing.

Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica, Controllo e Gestionale "Antonio Ruberti" dell’Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”, Associato dell'Istituto di Analisi dei Sistemi ed Informatica (IASI) del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Direttore Scientifico e co-fondatore (2015) della Scuola Internazionale di Calcolo Avanzato e Applicato (ISAAC), Chairman del Sustainability Workgroup dell’associazione Informatics Europe.
Laurea in Fisica presso il Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia, Università degli Studi di Catania, nel 2010, Laurea Magistrale in Astrofisica, nel 2012, stesso dipartimento, dottorato di ricerca in Informatica, nel 2016, conseguito presso il Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica. Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale come professore associato in Ingegneria Informatica (2017) e informatica (2019).
Precedentemente Ricercatore a tempo Determinato (tipo A) presso il Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica, Università di Catania, dal 2018 al 2019, già Assegnista di Ricerca e Professore a Contratto nello stesso Dipartimento dal 2015 al 2018. Collaboratore di Ricerca del Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica, Elettronica e Informatica, Università di Catania, dal 2009 al 2016, collaboratore dell'Osservatorio Astrofisico di Catania e dell'Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, dal 2010.
Diverse volte Professore invitato presso la Czestochowa University of Technology e la Silesian University of Technology, Visiting Academic presso la New York University, e responsabile di oltre 30 corsi istituzionali dal 2011 ad oggi nei corsi di laurea, laurea magistrale e dottoranto in Informatica, Ingegneria Informatica e Ingegneria elettronica. L'attività didattica è incentrata su Intelligenza Artificiale, Reti Neurali, Machine Learning, Sistemi informatici, Architetture degli Elaboratori, Sistemi Operativi e distribuiti, Calcolo ad alte prestazioni.
Coinvolto in diversi progetti di ricerca internazionali, revisore, membro del comitato editoriale e/o scientifico le principali riviste e conferenze internazionali. Attuali interessi di ricerca riguardanti le reti neurali, l'intelligenza artificiale, i modelli computazionali ed il calcolo ad alte prestazioni.
